Laptop Arrow Keys Replacement — Up, Down, Left, Right
The arrow keys — up, down, left, and right — sit as a four-key cluster at the bottom-right of every laptop keyboard. They take heavy use from anyone who scrolls, navigates spreadsheets, or plays games on a laptop. The good news: they're individually replaceable. You don't need to order all four if only one is broken.

The 4-key cluster
Most laptops use the same compact arrow-key shape across all four keys — usually half-height, sometimes full-height with the up/down stacked above left/right. Each key is its own kit (cap + clip + cup), and parts are NOT interchangeable across the four positions even though the caps look similar — the retainer clip's mounting hooks line up with that one position on the keyboard.
Buying individual arrows
After picking your model in the funnel above, the keyboard image highlights the four arrow keys. Click the one (or ones) you need; each adds a separate kit to your cart. If three of four are damaged, ordering three kits is still cheaper than ordering a full keyboard — and free shipping means there's no penalty for ordering multiples.
Common failure modes
Arrow keys most often fail in two ways:
- The cap pops off — usually from a fingernail catching the bottom edge during heavy scrolling. The clip is often still intact; a cap-only kit fixes it.
- The key stops registering — usually a worn rubber cup from millions of presses on a heavily used key (most often the down arrow). Full kit fixes it.
If all four arrows fail at once, the issue is usually below the key level — a damaged keyboard membrane — and a single-key repair won't fix it. That's a full keyboard replacement.
Half-height vs. full-height arrows
Most modern laptops use half-height arrow keys to save vertical space — left and right are full-size, up and down are half-height stacked between them. Some older or larger laptops use full-height arrows in a 1×4 row. The funnel above narrows you to your exact model and the keyboard image will reflect the correct layout.
Frequently asked questions
Are all four arrow keys interchangeable? ▼
No. The clips are mounted to specific keyboard positions, so an up-arrow kit won't fit the right-arrow position. Order the kit for the specific arrow you need.
I only need the down arrow — can I order just that one? ▼
Yes. Each arrow is a separate kit; pick the broken one in the keyboard image and add only that to your cart.
All four of my arrows stopped working at once. What now? ▼
That pattern is almost always a keyboard membrane failure, not a key-level problem. A single-key kit won't fix it; you'll need a full keyboard replacement, which is a different repair.
Are arrow caps backlit on backlit laptops? ▼
Yes — on every laptop with a backlit keyboard, the arrow caps are also translucent. Order kits labeled for your backlit model so the caps match your existing lighting.
