Who We Are

This website, Laptop-Keys.com, is the data controller responsible for the personal information described in this policy. We are a U.S.-based small business that sells laptop replacement key kits directly to consumers.

For privacy questions, requests, or concerns, please reach us through our Contact page.

What We Collect & Why

Laptop-Keys.com provides laptop replacement key kits for purchase. We collect limited personal information — such as your name, address, email, and phone number — solely to fulfill your order and contact you if needed.

  • You may choose not to provide your email or phone number; however, we will be unable to send you a receipt, shipping updates, or contact you if there is a problem with your order.
  • Your shipping address is required to deliver your order.
  • We also collect IP address information as a functionality of our website. This allows our shopping cart to function even when cookies are disabled, and helps us diagnose technical problems.

Payment Information

Laptop-Keys.com never collects, handles, or stores your financial information. Credit card numbers, CVV codes, bank account details, and PayPal credentials are never transmitted to, processed by, or seen by our servers.

All payments are processed directly by our PCI-compliant payment providers:

  • Stripe — when you pay by credit or debit card, your card details are entered into a secure form hosted by Stripe. The card data is sent directly from your browser to Stripe and never touches our servers. We only receive a transaction reference and the last four digits of the card used.
  • PayPal — when you choose PayPal, you're redirected to PayPal to log in and authorize the payment on their site. Your PayPal credentials and funding source are handled entirely by PayPal. We only receive a payment confirmation and the email associated with the PayPal account.

Because we never store financial data, there is no cardholder data for us to lose in the unlikely event of a breach. For your complete payment privacy policy, please refer to the providers linked above.

How We Use Your Information

Due to the nature of our business, most customers make purchases on an as-needed basis. We do not send promotional emails or communications beyond the necessary order receipt and shipping confirmation.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third party for marketing purposes.

We hate spam just as much as you do, and we deeply respect our customers' privacy.

Service Providers We Share Data With

We share the minimum information necessary with the following operational vendors so we can deliver your order:

  • Stripe and PayPal — payment processing.
  • USPS and EasyPost — shipping label generation and parcel delivery (we share your shipping address and order details).
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) — hosting, database, and storage. Order data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
  • Google — analytics and advertising platforms (see Cookies & Analytics below).

These providers are contractually required to protect your information and use it only for the services they provide to us.

Data Retention

We retain order and customer information only as long as needed to fulfill the order, support returns and exchanges, and meet our legal, accounting, and tax obligations (typically up to seven years for financial records). When data is no longer needed, it is deleted or anonymized.

Data Deletion

You can request that we delete your personal information from our records at any time. Keep in mind that once deleted, we will not be able to look up your past orders to assist with returns, exchanges, or warranty questions. To request deletion, contact us.

California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act:

  • Right to Know — request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
  • Right to Delete — request deletion of personal information we have collected from you.
  • Right to Correct — request correction of inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing — Laptop-Keys.com does not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law, so there is nothing to opt out of.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling the request.

Laptop-Keys.com operates in the United States. Your personal information may be processed outside the country where you are located. By providing information to us, you agree and consent to the storage and processing of your information in other countries, including outside the European Economic Area. Countries we transfer your information to may not have data protection laws similar to those of your location.

Children's Privacy

Laptop-Keys.com is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If a parent or guardian believes their child has provided us with personal information without their consent, please contact us immediately.

We use technical and administrative security measures — including encryption and authentication procedures — to maintain the security of your information. Please understand, however, that no transmission of data over the Internet can be guaranteed 100% secure.

You can help protect your own information by using encryption and other techniques to prevent unauthorized interception. You are responsible for the security of your information when using unencrypted, public, or otherwise unsecured networks.
